The plan is to double the annual revenue contribution from its African markets to 20 percent of the company’s total revenue globally in the next 5 years.

Mr Yoon Sung, Head of Business of the continent, of Samsung Electronics , said that Samsung accounts for half of the mobile phones/handsets and television sold in Africa.
He also stressed that, due to an increase in connectivity across Africa continent has brought about higher investment infrastructure.
He further stated that more African consumers are turning to smartphones for more basic models helped by faster internet speeds and this growth would further boost demand for its devices in the future.
He stated that Samsung faced competition from Africa from cheaper devices like Tecno, Huawei e.t.c and he added that it’s hard for Samsung to reduce the gap from its rivals in Africa because Samsung cannot sacrifice the quality.
