Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL ) – which will enable you link to a location within a Web app, iOS and Android.
So, starting from April 13th, 2018 , only existing users will be able to short links on the goo.gl console and you will also be given the opportunity to view your analytics data and download your short link information in CSV format for up to one year.
Until March 30, 2019 , when goo.gl URL shortener will finally be deleted and existing URLs will continue to redirect to their intended destinations.
Below is the the announcement made;
“Starting March 30, 2018, we will be turning down support for goo.gl URL shortener. From April 13, 2018 only existing users will be able to create short links on the goo.gl console. You will be able to view your analytics data and download your short link information in csv format for up to one year, until March 30, 2019, when we will discontinue goo.gl. Previously created links will continue to redirect to their intended destination.”
Google suggests users to switch to Firebase Dynamic Link (FDL) and other URL shortening services like bitly.com and Ow.ly.
As at the time of publishing this article, Google main purpose for the sudden deactivation of goo.gl URL shortener service is still unknown.
